Stories of Dignity
David
David is 80 years young, and he has lived an exciting and eventful life! David Thomson of Alexandria Township honored as Community STARS. David joined other individuals representing several agencies statewide in receiving Community Stars Awards presented by the New Jersey Association of Community Providers (NJACP). Hundreds of well-wishers gathered for a virtual event to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of those who meet life’s challenges with grace, dignity and determination.
Everyone faces challenges and trials throughout their lives. Through the Community Stars Awards individuals are recognized not for the significance of the obstacles or challenge, but rather the manner in which we meet that challenge.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, David began traveling when he met and became friends with musician, Johnny Pineapple. David went from being in the audience to being a roadie. This experience brought him to Hawaii, all around the U.S., and to several other countries! After moving to New Jersey, David worked at Howard Johnson and for the Highway Road Department, and he also volunteered at a Local Fire Department.
David loves listening to music, watching Disney on Ice, dancing, antique car shows, fishing, bowling and the Salvation Army Church. In his younger days, he went on the tallest, fastest roller coasters. These days, David really enjoys sitting on his front porch with a cup of coffee as he overlooks the beautiful farmland.
